1. Teaching Methods

Based on my observations at MMSU Laboratory High School the teacher often used the discussion and Problem Based Learning (PBL) method to encourage student participation. This was evident in activities where students were asked to interpret poems, analyze characters in stories, and express their opinions on various themes. The teacher facilitated discussions by providing guiding questions and promoting peer interaction. Not only that, but teachers also use a variety of teaching methods to keep students engaged. They also incorporate other methods, including group discussions, project-based learning, and interactive activities.
The teacher also implemented student-centered activities such as group discussion, group work, debates, and role-playing exercises. This method enhanced their critical thinking and communication skills. Additionally, the teacher utilized multimedia resources such as PowerPoint presentations and educational videos. Digital tools were used to make lessons more interactive and engaging for students. Teachers often utilize music as an interactive learning tool used is a music-based game. Chairs are arranged in a circle, and students dance around them while the music plays. When the music stops, they must quickly find a seat. For students who stay until the end of the lesson, Sir CJ gives them rewards like vegetables, which are very beneficial. In another class, he also gives souvenirs such as bags and keychains as a token of appreciation.
I greatly admire the teaching style of my resource teacher, Mr. Christian Jay Valdez, or Sir CJ. He has an incredible ability to energize the classroom, creating an atmosphere that motivates and excites students. His lessons are always engaging, and he makes the material easy to understand, even within the limited time frame. What impresses me most is his creative use of varied games during lessons, which keeps the students active and interested. Despite his youth, he is very skilled at managing the class and handling different student dynamics. Observing Sir CJ’s classes has opened my eyes to new teaching methods, and I’m inspired to apply similar approaches when I begin teaching in Indonesia.
2. Learning Materials

The materials provided to students are structured based on the curriculum set by the Department of Education of the Philippines. However, to enrich the learning experience and provide students with a broader perspective, teachers also take the initiative to seek additional learning resources from the internet. They look for relevant materials, including current issues happening in society. This approach ensures that students not only gain theoretical knowledge but can also connect their lessons to real-world situations.
Classroom learning is designed using an interactive approach that integrates both individual and group work. Through individual tasks, students are given the opportunity to work independently, enhancing their understanding and critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, in group work, they engage in collaboration, discussions, and idea-sharing. The integration of these two methods makes the learning process more enjoyable and engaging in both the classes I taught and those I observed.
Additionally, students are trained to become active learners. Rather than passively receiving information, they are encouraged to actively participate in the learning process. To foster active learning, teachers consistently provide reinforcement, such as appreciation for students' efforts, as well as engaging activities designed to spark their enthusiasm for learning. With this approach, students become more motivated, gain confidence in expressing their ideas, and are more involved in the overall learning process.
3. Learning and Technology

Teachers at MMSU-LHS incorporate various learning resources, including textbooks, online materials, and videos, to provide students with a broader understanding. PowerPoint presentations are used to make lessons more engaging and time-efficient. Additionally, teachers often utilize music as an interactive learning tool.
One of the methods used is a music-based game. Chairs are arranged in a circle, and students dance around them while the music plays. When the music stops, they must quickly find a seat. Students who fail to get a chair must answer a question from the teacher. Through these creative and enjoyable teaching methods, teachers successfully boost students' enthusiasm and make learning easier to understand.
4. Authentic Assessment
When evaluating students, both individual and group work contribute to their overall scores, including in quizzes. Before officially recording grades in the Class Record Book, teachers first conduct an authentic assessment. These assessments are initially documented separately before being finalized as students' official grades.
