Profile: Mariano Marcos State University

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) was established on January 6, 1978, by Presidential Decree No. 1279 under President Ferdinand E. Marcos. It was formed by merging several colleges, including Mariano Marcos Memorial College of Science and Technology (MMMCST) and Northern Luzon State College (NLSC), along with departments from Ilocos Norte Agricultural College (INAC) and Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trades (INCAT).
MMSU provides advanced education in arts, sciences, technology, and professional fields. The university's main campus is in Batac City, with additional campuses in Laoag, Currimao, and Dingras. It offers 66 undergraduate and graduate programs, many of which are accredited. MMSU is recognized as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and a Center of Development in Agriculture, Biology, Forestry, and IT Education. It is also one of the National Universities for Agriculture and Fisheries Education in the Philippines.
MMSU has 11 academic units across six campuses. The main campus in Batac hosts most colleges, while the other campuses house the College of Teacher Education, College of Industrial Technology, and College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology, among others. The university continues to play a key role in education and research in the region.
